Rumors have circulated regarding Timothée Chalamet’s alleged connection to the anonymous cult rapper EsDeeKid. Speculation intensified when Chalamet performed in a new video alongside EsDeeKid, dispelling the conjecture.
Notably, the Oscar-nominated actor has been the center of attention with whispers suggesting he leads a dual existence as the rapper, who conceals his identity except for his eyes. Fans noted a possible similarity between Chalamet and EsDeeKid’s eyes. When the BBC inquired about the rumored affiliation earlier this week, Chalamet replied succinctly, „No comment… You’ll see, all in due time.“
Collaboration Details
Chalamet, who previously used the hip-hop moniker Lil Timmy Tim during his school years, resolved the rumors by sharing a video of him rapping alongside EsDeeKid on a remix of the artist’s top 40 track, 4Raws.
In the music video, Chalamet cleverly alluded to the speculation by initially showcasing only his eyes, mimicking the look of the drill artist. He subsequently revealed his face, delivering the line: „It’s Timothée Chalamet chillin‘, tryin‘ to stack $100 million.“ He also referenced partner Kylie Jenner with the lyrics: „Girl got $1 billion.“
Filming Location and Viral Response
The video was filmed at Andover Minimarket Off Licence in North London and was later shared by EsDeeKid. The ongoing speculation gained traction in recent weeks as both artists maintained silence amid EsDeeKid’s climb into the UK top 10 and Chalamet’s promotion of his latest film.
In an interview this week on BBC Radio One, host Greg James pressed Chalamet about his connection to EsDeeKid, to which he cryptically remarked, „All will be revealed in due time.“ James later updated his social media post, indicating that „all was revealed.“
Chalamet further integrated his upcoming film, Marty Supreme, into the collaboration, amplifying the marketing strategy for the movie. While the theory that Chalamet and EsDeeKid could be the same person was always dubious, particularly given the significant differences in accent, their collaboration quickly gained viral attention.
Prominent British rapper Central Cee responded humorously with „Naaa“ accompanied by laughing emojis, while Tinie Tempah expressed his enjoyment with, „Hahha this is sickkk,“ and American artist Shaboozey predicted the track’s success, stating, „This going #1.“
