Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with an attempted firebombing of a Persian language media office located in north-west London.
On Wednesday, April 15, at approximately 20:30, law enforcement officers on proactive patrols in Wembley were alerted to an incident involving an ignited container that had been thrown toward the building.
The container landed in a nearby car park, where the flames extinguished themselves almost immediately. Fortunately, there were no reported damages or injuries.
Following the incident, urgent investigations were initiated, revealing that the suspects had fled the scene in a black SUV.
An Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) in the vicinity quickly identified a vehicle matching the description and initiated a pursuit after the driver failed to comply with police signals.
The chase concluded when the vehicle crashed on Ballards Lane, near the intersection with Woodberry Gardens, N12.
A 16-year-old boy, along with two men aged 19 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life and are currently in police custody. This incident is reminiscent of a recent case where a 13-year-old boy was arrested over a viral trend that has been spreading across the UK.
As a precautionary measure, several nearby buildings were evacuated, but it was soon determined that there was no broader threat.
Authorities are not treating the incident as a terrorist act; however, it is under investigation by detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing London, with assistance from officers in the North West Command Area.
At this time, there is no connection established between this incident and the attempted arson in Finchley earlier this week or the arson case in Golders Green from last month.
