A 15-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in Islington has been identified as Adam John Henry.
Authorities were alerted to a stabbing incident on Westbourne Road, Islington at 13:02 hours on Tuesday, December 9. Police officers arrived at the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, who provided treatment to Adam for his stab wounds. Despite their best efforts, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries later in the hospital.
Family Statement and Community Response
Specialist officers are currently supporting Adam’s next of kin. In a written statement, the family expressed their grief: “Our beautiful son, Adam, was cruelly taken away from us on Tuesday afternoon. He was a loving son, brother, nephew, grandson, friend and we will never recover from the loss and not having him in our lives.”
They continued, “He had many interests and was always there with a smile and cheeky sense of humour. He was good-natured and loyal. While only 15 years old, the beautiful memories we have of him can never be forgotten. We ask for privacy as a family so we can grieve and try to process this senseless tragedy together.”
Police Actions and Community Support
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who oversees policing in Islington, stated, “Our thoughts remain with Adam’s family and loved ones and anyone in the local community who has been affected by Adam’s tragic death. This is the second time Islington has lost a young person just before Christmas in the last two years – we know the impact on the community is profound.”
To address community safety concerns, additional police patrols are being deployed throughout the area, particularly during times when children are commuting to and from school. Youth workers from Islington Council have also been assigned to the area to engage with local young people and provide support.
Stewart encouraged any individual with concerns or inquiries to engage with officers available in the vicinity.
A crime scene remains in effect as forensic investigations continue. Detectives and forensic specialists are diligently working to ascertain the details surrounding Adam’s murder. Authorities urge any witnesses or individuals with relevant information regarding the incident to come forward.
Anyone possessing information that may assist the police investigation is encouraged to contact police at 101, referencing CAD 3568/09DEC, or reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
