The voice of the affected individual resonates strongly as Amie Mayson, the former partner of footballer Jordon Ibe, expressed the emotional toll of an assault that left her with a bald patch. Mayson stated, „Looking in the mirror is very distressing for me. The injury is a constant reminder of what happened and often leaves me feeling emotionally drained and upset.“ This poignant reflection underscores the impact of the incident that occurred in December.

Jordon Ibe, a 30-year-old former player for Bournemouth and Liverpool, pleaded guilty to assaulting Mayson outside her home in Lambeth, south London. The altercation took place on December 14, during which Mayson confronted Ibe regarding money she claimed he owed her. Initially denying the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, Ibe changed his plea in March.

During the court proceedings at Croydon Magistrates‘ Court, it was revealed that Ibe had been carrying a bag filled with drinks, snacks, and flowers when the argument escalated. Following Mayson’s derogatory remarks, including calling him a „druggy,“ Ibe reacted by pulling a braid from her hair, resulting in a visible injury.

Context of Ibe’s Career

Ibe’s football career began with Liverpool in 2012, where he made 58 appearances before moving on to play for Derby County, Birmingham City, and AFC Bournemouth, where he had 92 appearances from 2016 to 2020. After a period in non-league football, he joined Lokomotiv Sofia in the Bulgarian First League in November 2025.

Legal Proceedings and Future Sentencing

Following his arrest at Luton Airport on January 30, the court proceedings culminated in Ibe’s guilty plea. District Judge Polly Gledhill indicated that the case would likely result in a community order and requested a pre-sentence report. She emphasized the importance of Ibe being „as honest and open“ as possible with probation services before his sentencing, which is scheduled for September 4. Until then, he has been released on bail with specific conditions prohibiting contact with Mayson or visiting her residence.
