Hill go-ahead for £850m North London estate rebuild

The cabinet of Enfield Council has given the green light to a revised timeline for the £850 million redevelopment of the Edmonton estate, enabling the construction of the initial 270 affordable homes to commence in early summer.

This extensive, 20-year project will systematically replace 795 outdated residences within the Joyce Avenue and Snell’s Park estates with modern housing, with approximately half designated as genuinely affordable.

Originally approved two years ago, the redevelopment plans encompass the establishment of a community center, a nursery, an energy center, as well as enhancements to parks and landscaping. Notably, 220 New Homes Planned: South London Leisure Centre Construction Set for 2026 is part of a broader initiative to improve living conditions in the area.

The council has opted for an expedited construction schedule, allowing for the delivery of hundreds of affordable homes sooner than initially anticipated.

Block D is set to be one of five developments included in the first phase of this ambitious building initiative.
