The identities of the individuals who perished in a house fire in Walthamstow, East London, have been disclosed. Emergency services were alerted at 10:24 PM on Sunday, April 21, 2024, regarding a blaze at a residential property located on Forest Road. Police officers responded to the scene alongside members of the London Fire Brigade.
Tragically, two men were found deceased within the residence. They have been identified as Mohammed Djellal, aged 24, and Faouzi Bouchadoe, aged 35. In connection with the incident, a man has been charged with two counts of murder. Fouad Boudra, 25, was apprehended in France in January and was extradited to the UK on April 2, following the issuance of an international arrest warrant by a judge on August 27 of the previous year.
Boudra is scheduled to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, April 4, facing additional charges that include two counts of manslaughter, causing grievous bodily harm with intent to a third individual, and arson with intent to endanger life.
Fire Response and Damage Assessment
The London Fire Brigade reported that approximately 40 firefighters were dispatched to combat the fire, which had generated around nine emergency calls. The blaze resulted in the complete destruction of the two-storey end-of-terraced house, with significant damage to half of the roof.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade stated, „Two people have sadly died following a house fire on Forest Road in Walthamstow last night (April 21).“
Firefighters discovered the two victims inside the property, where they were subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by crews from the London Ambulance Service.
