Impact on Holiday Shoppers Due to Upcoming TfL Line Closures

„The upcoming closures will significantly affect travel for holiday shoppers,“ stated a representative from Transport for London (TfL).

As Christmas approaches, London’s transport network is preparing for an influx of passengers. However, disruptions are anticipated on the final weekend before Christmas, specifically from December 20 to December 21. Three sections of the London Overground will experience partial closures, including a service that departs from Euston station, according to TfL.

Details of the Closures

These interruptions are due to maintenance work on the tracks, scheduled for both morning and overnight hours. This is a precursor to more extensive closures expected during the festive season, which will extend into January and February.

Importantly, the Tube network will not see any adjustments during this weekend. However, that situation will change on December 25 and New Year’s Eve when various adjustments will be implemented. A comprehensive list of transport changes is available for commuters.

Specific Service Interruptions

Passengers using the London Overground should be aware of the following:

  • Lioness Line: On Sunday, December 21, there will be no service between Euston and Kilburn High Road until midday and after 8:30 PM due to maintenance work.
  • Mildmay Line: On Sunday, December 21, there will be no service between Camden Road and Stratford after 10:15 PM due to maintenance work.
  • Weaver Line: On Sunday, December 21, there will be no service between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town, Cheshunt, and Chingford until 10:15 AM due to maintenance work.

Passengers are advised to utilize Tube services or local bus routes as alternatives during these disruptions.

Upcoming DLR Changes

Further changes will also affect the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). On Sunday, December 21, there will be no service between Tower Gateway and Shadwell due to third-party engineering work, prompting a recommendation for commuters to rely on local bus services.
