A man has been brought before a court facing allegations of murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in south London.
James Flanagan, aged 53, was taken into custody at the scene after police responded to a report concerning the welfare of a woman at an address on Rodney Road, North Walworth, on Sunday afternoon, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The deceased woman, identified as 58-year-old Julie Wilson, was found dead at the location. Her family is receiving support from dedicated officers, the Met stated.
Court Proceedings
Mr. Flanagan, who resides on Stead Street in North Walworth, was charged with murder on Wednesday. He appeared at Croydon Magistrates‘ Court the following day, where he was remanded in custody. A scheduled appearance at the Old Bailey is set for Monday.
Detective Inspector Mark Franklin expressed condolences, stating that the thoughts of the officers remain with Ms. Wilson’s family and friends.
„While a man has now been charged, our investigation continues, and we urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us to come forward,“ he urged.
