Four men have been arrested in London and its surrounding areas on suspicion of espionage for the Iranian intelligence service. According to the Metropolitan Police, these individuals, which include one Iranian national and three British-Iranian citizens, are accused of surveilling locations and individuals associated with the Jewish community in London. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
The arrests were carried out by officers from the Anti-Terror Police at multiple addresses across the British capital. In a related operation, six additional men were apprehended in Harrow, located in northwest London, on suspicion of aiding criminal activities.
In response to these developments, British Deputy Prime Minister Lammy has commented on the situation, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations and the government’s commitment to addressing threats to community safety.
The investigation raises concerns about potential connections to broader geopolitical issues, including links to China, as authorities continue to probe the implications of these arrests.
