A resident of southeast London has been convicted for committing a severe sexual assault against a 13-year-old girl while traveling on a train.
Abdulmanon Aliev, 50, was found guilty of multiple charges, including two counts of assault by penetration, three counts of sexual assault, and attempted rape at the Inner London Crown Court on April 9.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred on June 16, 2025, as the teenager was traveling from Southend to London. Aliev, a national from Tajikistan residing on Rye Lane in Peckham, initially sat across from the girl and attempted to communicate with her using a translator app on his phone.
After the girl moved away from him, Aliev followed her and positioned himself beside her in the aisle, effectively blocking her against the window. He then proceeded to force himself on her, subjecting her to a prolonged sexual assault until the train reached London, according to the British Transport Police (BTP).
Once the train arrived at the station, the girl managed to escape and boarded another train to leave the area. She confided in fellow passengers about the assault, prompting them to alert the authorities.
Investigation and Arrest
Following the report, the police meticulously reviewed hours of CCTV footage to trace Aliev’s movements before and after the assault. On June 27, more than a week post-incident, plainclothes officers identified Aliev in Peckham and arrested him.
Detective Constable Elizabeth Cahill from the BTP remarked,
“Aliev singled out a vulnerable child and subjected her to one of the most abhorrent sexual assaults I’ve ever investigated.”
She continued,
“While the focus of attention will rightly be on him as the despicable sexual predator that he is, I want to pay tribute to the brave victim who reported him to police. This verdict would not have been possible without her account of what happened and her willingness to support our investigation.”
Aliev is scheduled to be sentenced at the Inner London Crown Court on June 17. The BTP emphasized their commitment to taking every report of sexual offenses seriously and ensuring that offenders like Aliev are brought to justice.
