Authorities have initiated a search for a group of men involved in the sexual assault of a woman in her 20s after she departed from a nightclub in Epsom. The incident occurred in the town center, specifically outside the Epsom Methodist Church on Ashley Road, between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on April 11.
According to statements from Surrey Police, the victim was reportedly followed after leaving Labyrinth Epsom, located in nearby Spread Eagle Walk. Detective Inspector Aine Matthews commented,
„We understand this is an extremely distressing incident and the victim is being supported by specialist officers.“
Matthews further noted,
„Our investigation is in its early stages, and a team of officers has been conducting extensive inquiries today to identify and locate the suspects. We are working at pace to develop our picture of the suspects and will share details as soon as we are able to. Officers remain in the area, and I encourage you to speak with them if you have any concerns.“
Investigators are appealing to anyone who was present in the vicinity between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. and may have seen or interacted with a distressed woman. They are also requesting dashcam footage from that timeframe.
