Authorities are actively searching for a man who has escaped from a secure hospital in Greenwich. The incident occurred on March 31, when Menelik, 46, reportedly slipped away from staff during an escorted visit to shops near the Deptford Dockland Light Railway Station.
Police received a call shortly after 1:20 PM regarding the situation. It is believed that Menelik subsequently boarded a number 53 bus heading towards Lambeth North.
The Metropolitan Police is conducting an investigation into the escape and is appealing for witnesses. PC Luke Hill, who is overseeing the case, stated,
“My team are continuing to carry out extensive enquiries to locate Menelik, but he remains missing. If seen, we ask the public not to approach him and call 999. Anyone who may have been in contact with Boakye is urged to get in touch with police immediately.”
Menelik is described as being 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build. At the time of his disappearance, he was last seen wearing a black jacket, black jogging bottoms, and blue trainers. He is known to have connections to the Streatham area and is also recognized for frequenting Brixton.
Authorities are urging anyone who spots Menelik to refrain from approaching him and to immediately contact emergency services by calling 999. Additionally, anyone with further information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to call 101 and reference CAD 3843/31MAR.
