Passengers utilizing Southeastern Railway will experience notable enhancements to their travel options in 2026, as the company has announced two significant timetable updates.
Effective from May 17, the operator, which services Kent, East Sussex, and parts of Greater London, will reintroduce several train services. This includes peak-hour connections between London Blackfriars and Gillingham/Maidstone East.
Additionally, there will be more weekday trains added between Maidstone East and London Charing Cross to fill existing service gaps. The company will also introduce extra services on weekdays and Saturday mornings between Canterbury West and St Pancras along the High Speed route.
„This is the first step in a bigger transformation,“ a Southeastern spokesperson stated.
The planned improvements aim to accommodate the increasing demand for rail travel in the South East, offering customers enhanced choices and opportunities for their journeys.
In December, Southeastern will further expand its metro timetable, introducing a „turn up and go“ service model. According to the operator, all metro routes, with the exception of the Bromley North line, will feature trains running every 15 minutes from Monday to Saturday.
Moreover, an hourly Maidstone East to London Charing Cross service will be available on Sundays, alongside an increase in services on the Sheerness branch, which will provide two trains per hour throughout the week.
Scott Brightwell, the safety, planning & performance director at Southeastern, remarked, „We continually listen to our customers and monitor travel patterns to adjust and improve our timetable every May and December. In previous timetable updates we have added more services, more capacity where it is needed and more consistent departure times too.“
Passengers are encouraged to review the updated timetables for the new service timings, as some existing schedules have been modified to enhance overall performance.
