What actions are authorities taking following a serious incident near a train station in Surrey?
Police are seeking assistance regarding a sexual assault that occurred near a train station on August 23.
A young woman was struck on the back of the head and subsequently raped in an alleyway adjacent to Leatherhead station around 11 PM. After the attack, the assailant and the victim boarded a London-bound train, disembarking at Cheam.
CCTV Images Released
Detectives from the British Transport Police (BTP) have released CCTV images of a man they believe may provide significant insights into the case. The victim was discovered just before midnight by a passerby lying near Cheam station.
The individual sought for questioning is described as a Black male with dreadlocks, wearing a distinctive Nike sweatshirt featuring a white tick emblem on the left side of his chest. He was also seen with a black bicycle.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Winters commented, “This was an abhorrent attack targeting a young woman late at night. The victim has been receiving specialist support as our investigation continues, and we are appealing to the public to assist our efforts to track down the man responsible.”

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the man in the CCTV images to reach out, as he may be able to aid in the ongoing investigation.
