A teenager has been sentenced to three years in prison following an armed assault on a staff member at a chicken shop in South London on Christmas Eve.
Marwan Khadir, aged 18, was found guilty of assaulting and threatening to kill an employee with a realistic imitation firearm after expressing dissatisfaction with his food order. The incident, which lasted over two minutes, was captured on the establishment’s CCTV.
The assault took place on December 24, 2025, and the victim reported the incident to authorities the following day. Law enforcement officials utilized extensive CCTV footage and financial tracking, along with inquiries from local residents, to identify Khadir between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Investigation and Arrest
Following the identification of Khadir, police located his residence and collaborated with firearms command to secure arrest warrants on January 2. During this operation, officers seized the replica firearm used in the attack, along with fake ammunition and clothing that matched what Khadir wore during the incident.
On January 30, Khadir entered a guilty plea at Woolwich Crown Court for multiple charges, including possessing an imitation firearm with intent to instill fear of violence, making threats to kill, and assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm (ABH). He received his sentence on Tuesday.

Detective Sergeant Amy Cross, who oversaw the investigation, remarked, „The tireless work by officers on this case over the Christmas and New Year period is further evidence that policing never stops, and their efforts ultimately led to a conviction.“ She added, „All our thoughts continue to remain with the victim of this terrifying ordeal, something no one should ever have to go through, let alone at their place of work. The strength he has shown since the attack has been remarkable.“
Cross also praised the victim’s bravery, stating, „On top of this, the courage he demonstrated in coming forward and reporting the assault was incredibly brave. He was then able to subsequently identify the perpetrator, a crucial moment in allowing us to move the investigation forward.“
