Tractor blaze causes disruption on A2 London-bound near Singlewell, Gravesend as ‘load spillage’ adds delays on M2

Traffic disruptions have occurred on two major routes due to a tractor fire and a load spillage incident. The tractor blaze was reported shortly after noon on the A2 London-bound near Singlewell, Gravesend.

Emergency services, including three fire engines, a bulk water carrier, and a technical rescue unit, are currently on the scene just past the Cobham services, near the Henshurst Road junction. Lanes three of four are closed as a result of the fire involving a tractor pulling a hay trailer.

Firefighters are utilizing hose reel jets and compressed air foam to extinguish the flames, with ongoing support from Kent Police and the Highways Agency. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported; however, one individual was assessed by paramedics as a precautionary measure.

Traffic Updates and Additional Incidents

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has advised that the carriageway will remain closed while firefighting efforts continue, urging travelers to check for traffic updates before heading towards the affected area. In a related incident, multiple rail incidents have caused train travel chaos across South London.

In a related incident, the London-bound exit slip on the M2 at Junction 2 for Strood is closed due to a vehicle shedding its load. Additionally, one lane on the London-bound carriageway is also closed because of the load spillage, with emergency services responding to this situation as well.
