Metropolitan Police Detectives have initiated a murder investigation following the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy in Islington.
At 13:02 hours on Tuesday, 9 December, authorities responded to reports of a stabbing on Westbourne Road, Islington. Officers arrived at the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.
Paramedics administered treatment to the injured boy for a stab wound before transporting him to the hospital. Regrettably, despite the dedicated efforts of medical personnel, the boy succumbed to his injuries later that afternoon.
His family has been notified and is receiving support from specialized officers.
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, responsible for policing in the area, remarked: „Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this incredibly sad and difficult time. We understand this is incredibly concerning for the community, particularly given the victim’s young age.“
Stewart further indicated, „Officers are actively conducting urgent inquiries in the vicinity, and cordons are in place. I encourage anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses any information to reach out to us, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously.“
A scene remains established on Atlas Mews, Westbourne Road, and Arundel Square to facilitate ongoing investigations.
