What drives a manhunt across a major city? The urgent pursuit of justice following a tragic crime often motivates law enforcement. In this case, the prime suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old has been apprehended after a two-week search in London.
According to Scotland Yard, 22-year-old Abdel Derdour was among five individuals detained at a location in north-west London on Boxing Day. This operation came in response to the murder of Adam Henry, who was fatally injured near Westbourne Road in Islington.
Details of the Arrest
Law enforcement officials initiated a manhunt for Derdour, eventually leading to his arrest on December 26. Alongside him, four others—three men and a woman aged between 18 and 47—were taken into custody for allegedly helping an offender.
During the course of their detention, the 47-year-old woman faced further charges following an incident involving a police officer, while one of the men, aged 39, was arrested for domestic violence and driving offenses. All five remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
Background on the Incident
The police received reports of the stabbing around 1:02 PM on December 9. Adam Henry was treated for his injuries but succumbed to them in the hospital. Derdour is described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, of mixed heritage, and possessing a slim physique. He was last seen sporting a moustache and facial hair while fleeing towards Caledonian Road.
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is overseeing the investigation, expressed empathy for the victim’s family. “Our thoughts remain with Adam’s loved ones throughout this unimaginably difficult time. There is no place for senseless acts of violence on our streets – and those responsible for such crimes should be brought to justice,” Bhangoo stated.
In related developments, Tsidi Winion, a 20-year-old from Handyside Street in Camden, has been charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the stabbing incident. Winion is scheduled to face trial on August 6, 2026.
Adam Henry’s family has described him as “good-natured and loyal,” stating that he had numerous interests and was known for his smile and sense of humor. “He was a loving son, brother, nephew, grandson, friend, and we will never recover from the loss and not having him in our lives,” they expressed.
