London City Lionesses are poised to appoint Spanish coach Eder Maestre as their new manager following the dismissal of Jocelyn Precheur.
Maestre, who recently led CD Tenerife Femenino in Spain’s top division, departed the club in December. London City, having achieved promotion to the Women’s Super League for the first time this season, parted ways with Precheur on Sunday.
Transition in Management
Precheur, aged 43, joined London City in 2024 from Paris St-Germain amid significant financial backing from their ambitious multi-club owner Michele Kang. His dismissal came unexpectedly as London City was positioned sixth in the league, having secured five victories out of their initial 11 matches.
Despite this decent start, reports suggest that the club did not view Precheur as the right individual to guide them through the upcoming phases of their growth.
Future Prospects with Maestre
It is believed that Maestre is perceived as a potential world-class coach, embodying the strong Spanish style that London City intends to adopt. The 39-year-old has prior experience managing Real Sociedad in Spain.
