Passengers are expressing frustration as significant disruptions plague the London Underground and Elizabeth Line, stemming from a combination of technical failures and adverse weather conditions.
As of 6:55 AM, six Tube lines were either fully or partially suspended. The Circle and District lines faced complete suspension due to a signal system failure. Additionally, Elizabeth Line services to and from Heathrow were interrupted, initially caused by flooding from heavy overnight rain, followed by a fire alert.
Travel Advisory Amid Heatwave
In light of the ongoing heatwave affecting the capital, several train operators are advising against travel unless absolutely necessary. Red and amber weather warnings for extreme heat are in effect until Thursday, June 25.
National Rail has urged passengers planning to travel on Wednesday or Thursday to “only travel if absolutely necessary” and to verify service statuses before embarking on their journeys.

- Central Line: Minor delays between North Acton and Ealing Broadway / West Ruislip, and between Leytonstone and Epping / Hainault via Newbury Park due to train cancellations.
- Elizabeth Line: No service between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow Terminals while Transport for London (TfL) addresses a fire alert at Heathrow Terminal 2 & 3. Severe delays are also reported between Paddington and Reading, and between Whitechapel and Shenfield due to an earlier points failure at Southall.
- Circle Line: No service due to a signal system failure.
- District Line: No service between Whitechapel and various destinations, with severe delays reported.
- Bakerloo Line: Minor delays across the line due to an earlier signal failure at Harlesden.
- Hammersmith & City Line: No service between Moorgate and Barking, with severe delays on the remainder of the line.
- Metropolitan Line: No service between Aldgate and Moorgate, with severe delays elsewhere.
- Trams: Severe delays between Sandilands and Elmers End / Beckenham Junction due to flooding.
Ongoing Challenges
The Circle line remains closed at Liverpool Street station, causing confusion among commuters due to a lack of clear signage. Furthermore, Southern trains will not operate between Shepherds Bush and Watford Junction from 2 PM to 7 PM today due to the heat.
As the signal system failure continues to disrupt services, the Circle line remains fully suspended, while the District, Metropolitan, and Hammersmith & City lines are partially closed.
