Travelers should prepare for substantial disruptions at London Euston station during the upcoming Easter holiday due to extensive engineering work.
From Good Friday, April 3, through Wednesday, April 8, Avanti services will be rerouted to terminate at Milton Keynes Central. This change is part of Network Rail’s efforts to replace a major bridge, enhance signaling systems, and renew essential infrastructure.
To accommodate affected passengers, replacement bus services will operate between Milton Keynes and Bedford, where travelers can connect to trains heading to London St Pancras.
Jake Kelly from Network Rail stated, „Bank holidays are also among the least busy times on the railway, and the four-day period at Easter gives us a valuable opportunity to complete projects that simply can’t be delivered during a normal weekend.“ He further advised, „Passengers will see some changes, and it’s a good idea for people to check before they travel.“
In addition to the disruptions at Euston, a limited number of London Overground Lioness Line services will be available on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Other Rail Service Changes
Elsewhere in the rail network, there will be a reduced service between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction due to ongoing work to renew switches and crossings.
On the London Underground, travelers will find that the Hammersmith and City line will not operate throughout the Easter weekend. Additionally, the Bakerloo line will experience disruptions between Stonebridge Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.
Furthermore, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will not run between Bank and Tower Gateway, as well as from Poplar to West India Quay, from Good Friday until April 8.
Travelers are encouraged to stay informed about service changes and plan their journeys accordingly during this busy holiday period.
