Aaron Austin, a 22-year-old from Coulsdon, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for his involvement as a ‚key conductor‘ in the operation of a drug line supplying heroin, crack cocaine, and cannabis into Surrey. His arrest occurred in Purley in February, where he confessed to police during questioning that he had been engaged in drug dealing since October 2024.
Authorities discovered a firearm linked to Austin at a residence connected to his activities. Initially, Austin attempted to deny ownership of the weapon, which was found wrapped in a scarf. However, videos surfaced showing him discharging an identical firearm in public, compelling him to acknowledge the evidence.
Criminal Charges and Evidence
Austin faced multiple charges, including:
- Being concerned in the supply of heroin
- Being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine
- Being concerned in the supply of cannabis
- Possession of criminal property
- Possession of a firearm
Upon his arrest, police examined a mobile phone attributed to the drug line, which displayed numerous messages indicative of drug distribution sent between November 2024 and February 2025. During the search at a property in Redhill connected to Austin, investigators found not only the gun but also a knife with white residue and a significant amount of cash.
Police Statement
In a statement, Investigating Officer PC Bush remarked, „Austin was a key conductor in a county line that moved a significant quantity of drugs across East Surrey, and I am pleased that he has been put before the courts to face justice. We know that county lines gangs prey on the most vulnerable members of the community for their own benefit. Our priority is to protect those most at risk as well as the wider public, and we will continue our work to tackle this issue.“
PC Bush further emphasized the importance of community involvement in combating drug-related crime, urging the public to report any concerns through the police’s online channels or by contacting the charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
