A 19-year-old man has been apprehended in connection with an arson incident targeting volunteer ambulances operated by the Jewish community in Golders Green. His arrest occurred at Westminster Magistrates‘ Court during a hearing for three other individuals charged with related offenses.
On the morning of April 4, 2026, Metropolitan Police officers recognized the suspect while he was present at the court for the proceedings involving the other three defendants. He was subsequently arrested on charges of arson with intent to endanger life and taken into custody.
Three additional suspects have already been charged in relation to this case. Hamza Iqbal, 20, and Rehan Khan, 19, both British nationals from Leyton, along with a 17-year-old male of dual British and Pakistani nationality from Walthamstow, were charged on April 3 with arson, being reckless as to whether life would be endangered. All three appeared in court on April 4, where they were remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on April 24.
The arrests stem from an ongoing investigation into the arson attack that occurred around 1:35 AM on March 23. During this incident, four ambulances belonging to Hatzola, a volunteer ambulance service in the Golders Green area of north London, were set ablaze.
Additionally, two other men were arrested on March 25 in connection with the same investigation. They have since been released on bail and are awaiting further inquiries.
