Detectives are seeking assistance from the public for information related to a deadly road traffic incident in Canary Wharf.
Authorities were notified at 21:57 on Thursday, 30 October, regarding a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Aspen Way, Canary Wharf.
Regrettably, despite extensive efforts by emergency responders, the pedestrian, a 26-year-old man, was declared deceased at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specialized officers.
Reports suggest the victim was attempting to cross the roadway accompanied by two friends when he was struck by a blue Ford Focus. The driver departed the scene prior to the arrival of police.
A 20-year-old man was taken into custody on Friday, 31 October, on allegations of causing death by dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon, and failing to stop. He has since been released on bail.
Detective Sergeant Ed Rulton from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit commented, „Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the victim during this tragic time. Our officers are diligently working to reconstruct the events of that evening, and we would appreciate speaking to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who was present in the area and noticed anything unusual. Every piece of information, no matter how small, could be crucial.“
