A conviction has been reached regarding a driver responsible for the murder of a man during a drink-fueled incident in London’s West End on Christmas Day. Anthony Gilheaney, aged 31, was found guilty of murdering 25-year-old Aidan Chapman and attempting to murder two additional individuals during a series of assaults that occurred in the early hours of December 25, 2024.
Chapman sustained severe head injuries and succumbed to his wounds in the hospital on New Year’s Eve.
Gilheaney, a resident of Harlow in Essex, was also convicted of intentionally wounding Arif Khan and inflicting grievous bodily harm on Marcelo Basbus-Garcia and Miguel Waihrich. However, he was acquitted of the charge of attempting to murder Waihrich.
The jury was informed that Gilheaney had exited a nightclub shortly before engaging in multiple unprovoked attacks. Sentencing is scheduled for January.
