Detectives have initiated a murder investigation and are seeking witnesses following a fatal stabbing incident in Shadwell.
Authorities received a call at 16:01 on Tuesday, April 7, regarding an assault on Watney Street. Officers, accompanied by the London Ambulance Service, arrived at the scene to find a man, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, suffering from knife injuries.
The victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition, but despite the medical team’s efforts, he tragically succumbed to his injuries. Investigators are currently working to notify his next of kin.
Additionally, a second individual, a man in his 50s, was discovered at the scene with a knife wound. He was also taken to the hospital, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the murder investigation, although no arrests have been made thus far.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, who is overseeing the investigation, stated, „My thoughts remain with the victim’s family and loved ones, as well as those in the community who have been affected by this incident. We are working to establish the circumstances surrounding his tragic death.“
He further urged anyone who was in the vicinity during the incident or who possesses CCTV or dash cam footage that could aid in the investigation to come forward.
