An investigation has commenced following the death of a man in Forest Gate.
At 15:52 hours on Tuesday, November 25, police were dispatched to Palmerston Road in response to reports of an altercation.
Officers arrived alongside the London Ambulance Service and discovered a man in his 50s who was unresponsive.
He was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he tragically passed away on Thursday, November 27.
The deceased has been identified as Franklin Francis, aged 56, from Newham.
His family has been notified and is receiving support from specialized officers.
Two individuals, aged 56 and 24, have been taken into custody on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and are currently on conditional bail as investigations proceed.
In a statement, Mr. Francis‘ family expressed, „Franklin was a loving member of the family whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew him. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled. We will miss him dearly every single day.“
Superintendent Sarah Jackson, who oversees policing in the area, remarked, „We are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts are with Franklin’s family and friends. We are doing everything we can to find out who is responsible and have made two arrests as part of our investigation. I’d also like to thank the members of the public who helped the victim until officers and paramedics arrived on the scene. We understand this incident will cause concern within the local community and want to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident.“
