A fifth individual has been apprehended in connection with the deadly stabbing of a man in south London.
Aurelio Mejia, aged 26, was discovered with multiple stab wounds outside the Laxa Lounge on Ruby Street, Peckham, during the early hours of Easter Monday. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
In addition to Mejia, two other men were also found injured at the location. A 24-year-old man was transported to the hospital, where his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. He has since been taken into custody on suspicion of murder.
The second injured individual, who is in his 20s, remains hospitalized and is reported to be in critical condition.
On the same day, four men—one aged 18 and three aged 24—were arrested on suspicion of murder. All four are currently in custody.
„Our thoughts remain with Aurelio’s family, who have suffered a terrible loss,“ stated a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police.
The spokesperson added, „We are continuing with our inquiries into this matter. Given the circumstances of this incident—which occurred outside a busy nightclub—the investigation team believes there may have been many relevant witnesses.“
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigation into this tragic event.
