Police are seeking assistance in their investigation of a Boxing Day incident involving the assault of a security guard in East London. They have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to interview regarding the attack.
On December 26, 2025, at approximately 16:22, officers were dispatched to the Tesco store located on Gainsborough Road, E11, following reports of an assault on a security guard in his 60s. The guard was injured while attempting to engage with a man exiting the store.
The assault resulted in a severe eye injury for the guard, necessitating hospital treatment and leading to ongoing visual impairment. Additionally, two other individuals—a fellow security guard and a bystander who intervened—sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Claudine Davie, who is overseeing the case, stated,
“This was a violent attack on a member of staff who was simply doing his job. We have spoken to a number of witnesses but are eager to hear from anyone who can identify the individual in the CCTV image.”
She further encouraged anyone who witnessed the assault and has not yet come forward to contact the police.
