A mother and father have been charged with the murder of their three-month-old son following an emergency call to their residence in North Finchley.
On Friday, January 30, at 11:34 AM, police and the London Ambulance Service responded to a report concerning an unresponsive infant, referred to as Baby A, at a property on Kingsway.
Upon arrival, paramedics administered emergency first aid before transporting the baby to the hospital with serious injuries.
The parents were arrested later that day on suspicion of assault resulting in grievous bodily harm. This incident has drawn parallels to other recent cases, such as the man charged with murder of woman in Willesden.
On Monday, February 2, they faced charges for causing or allowing serious physical harm to a child and appeared at Ealing Magistrates’ Court, where they were remanded in custody.
Tragic Outcome and Further Charges
Unfortunately, despite the medical team’s efforts, Baby A passed away in the hospital on Tuesday, February 17. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place.
On Wednesday, February 18, both parents were charged with murder and with causing or allowing the death of a child. This case has raised concerns about the impact on community following murder charge in Lambeth.
The individuals charged are Dounia Chetaouat, 32, of Kingsway, North Finchley, and Abdelkader Essid, 44, of Clandon Gardens, Finchley.
They are set to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 23, after 2:00 PM.
Detectives are urging anyone with information that could aid the investigation to contact 101 or send a message to @MetCC on X, referencing CAD 2297/31JAN. Additionally, there has been an arrest made in Gillingham crash that claimed life of pedestrian, highlighting the ongoing issues of safety in the community.
