Two men have lost their lives following a shooting and a stabbing that occurred within a span of just seven minutes in London.
The incidents transpired yesterday (December 19) in the areas of Stonebridge and near Kilburn High Road, both situated in northwest London.
Law enforcement and forensic teams have been actively engaged at the two crime scenes following the violent events.
Both occurrences resulted in the death of a man, with the incidents happening mere minutes apart from each other.
Man, 55, Falls Victim to Shooting in Stonebridge
Initially, authorities responded to a report of a 55-year-old man shot dead on West End Close in Stonebridge at 9:35 PM yesterday.
The victim’s next of kin have been notified and are receiving support from specialized officers. Fortunately, no further injuries were reported in this incident.
No arrests have been made, and a crime scene has remained intact throughout the day as investigations proceed.
Police suspect that a large group was gathered near the site of the crime at the time of the shooting.
Man, 40, Dies Following Stabbing Near Kilburn High Road
Just seven minutes later, officers were alerted to Tollgate House in Tollgate Gardens, adjacent to Kilburn High Road, at 9:42 PM on the same day.
A 40-year-old man was discovered with stab wounds and was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Similarly, no arrests have been reported in connection with this incident.
Rising Concerns Over Gun Crime in Northwest London
According to a report from the Brent & Kilburn Times in July, the borough of Brent recorded one of the highest numbers of gun-related crimes this year.
Recent statistics indicate that the situation in Brent has deteriorated, with 82 gun crime incidents reported between January and November of this year, ranking it as the second highest borough in London.
Enfield recorded the most incidents with 94, while Croydon reported 80. However, it is worth noting that gun crime offenses in Brent have decreased by 2.2 percent compared to November of the previous year.
