What new developments have emerged regarding the tragic shooting of Mahad Abdi Mohamed? Detectives are investigating the case, which is believed to be a mistaken killing.
A Targeted Assault
Authorities suspect that the individuals involved exited a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander, which was later found burned. This incident is categorized as a targeted attack.
On the evening of the incident, Mahad was with a friend at their residence, where they were breaking their fast outdoors. The suspects approached in the Mitsubishi and opened fire, resulting in multiple gunshot wounds to both Mahad and his companion.
Mahad’s friend, aged 26, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and required medical attention.
Investigation Insights
Police believe that another stolen vehicle, identified as a blue Jaguar, may have been used to transport the suspects to and from the scene of the crime.
In March and April, law enforcement apprehended four adult males on suspicion of murder; however, they were later released on bail.
So far, investigators have come to the conclusion that the assailants intended to harm someone else as part of a premeditated, targeted operation.
Public Appeal for Information
As part of their appeal, Mahad’s youngest sister urged the public: „To stay silent is to be complicit. To stay silent is to let a grieving mother suffer in confusion. To stay silent is to let a little boy grow up not knowing what happened to his father.“
The £20,000 reward, aimed at encouraging information leading to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of those responsible, will be available for a duration of three months and is set to expire on 20 March 2026.
