Officers are calling for a courageous individual who intervened to assist three women facing harassment on the street to step forward.
Authorities received a call around 08:00 on Wednesday, January 14, regarding an attempted robbery and sexual assault targeting a group of women on Camden High Street.
Upon arrival, police spoke with the victims, but it was only after reviewing CCTV footage that the significant actions of an unidentified man came to light.
Details of the Incident
Sergeant Max Pennington, who is overseeing the investigation, stated: “This man witnessed three women being harassed by an obviously intoxicated individual. His response was commendable.”
“Rather than ignoring the situation, he positioned himself between the women and the aggressor, risking his own safety in the process. He remained with them until he was assured of their safety. His actions are commendable.”
“We wish to express our gratitude for his bravery and believe he possesses crucial information that could aid our investigation. If he sees this message, we encourage him to come forward. Additionally, anyone who recognizes him or has information should contact us.”
Description of the Witness
The man is described as white, with a short brown beard, of average build, and was wearing a light cream jacket, dark trousers, brown shoes, and a distinctive red beanie hat featuring a yellow logo. He intervened just outside Miniso, located at the intersection of Camden High Street and Inverness Street.
In addition to seeking this individual, authorities are also interested in hearing from anyone who was present in or around Camden High Street during the incident and may have witnessed anything unusual.
