The local community is expressing its outrage following an unprovoked antisemitic attack on a father and his young son in Markfield Park earlier this month. Authorities are now seeking public assistance to identify the perpetrator of this disturbing incident.
On Saturday, July 4, at approximately 5:30 PM, police responded to reports of an assault involving a man in his twenties and his three-year-old child. The assailant not only attacked the victims but also directed threatening comments towards them and the broader Jewish community. Fortunately, neither individual required medical treatment.
The suspect is described as a mixed-race male, of medium height and muscular build, with short hair and stubble. He is noted to have a tattoo on his left bicep and was seen wearing a white cap while riding a red-orange e-bike at the time of the incident.
Police were alerted to the attack by a concerned citizen, and officers arrived on the scene within ten minutes. Since then, detectives have been actively investigating, including reviewing CCTV footage and collecting statements from the victims.
Detective Constable Benny Palmer, who is overseeing the case, stated, „This was a shocking, unprovoked attack and we know it will cause concern to the local community. We are doing all we can to identify the offender and are asking the public to get in touch with us if they have any relevant information, particularly any footage that was filmed at the park during the early evening of Saturday, July 4, or those with doorbells or dashcams near Crawford Road, Seven Sisters.“
Palmer emphasized the Metropolitan Police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Jewish communities through visible and coordinated patrols.
Individuals with information are encouraged to contact the Metropolitan Police via 101, referencing incident number 5884/4Jul. For those wishing to remain anonymous, they can reach out to the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
