Authorities are seeking witnesses in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident in Deptford that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. Following preliminary investigations, police have taken two men and a woman into custody for further questioning.

The incident occurred at approximately 18:56 hours on Tuesday, April 14, when a vehicle struck a woman in her 20s between Sanford Street and Knoyle Street. Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, responded promptly to the scene. Unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the location. Her family has been notified and is receiving assistance from specialized officers.

The driver involved in the collision did not stop and fled the scene, prompting an immediate search for the individual. On Wednesday, April 15, law enforcement apprehended a woman in her 50s and two men in their 20s on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. All three suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Detective Inspector Glen Mera from the Metropolitan Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit stated, „Our thoughts remain with the young woman’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.“ He added, „As we try to build up a full picture of the incident, we are appealing to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or any relevant information – particularly anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.“

Anyone with information or relevant footage is urged to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting CAD 6797/14APR26.
