Metropolitan Police detectives are seeking assistance from the public regarding a tragic road traffic incident that occurred in Lambeth.
On Wednesday, April 29, emergency services, including officers from the Metropolitan Police, the London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance, responded to reports of a serious collision on Kennington Park Road, SE11. The incident involved a lorry and a cyclist.
The cyclist, a woman in her twenties, received immediate medical attention from paramedics at the scene. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after their arrival. Authorities have notified her next-of-kin, who are currently receiving support from specialized officers.
The lorry driver, a man in his fifties, has been taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.
Detective Sergeant James Moody from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command stated, “Our thoughts remain with the young woman’s loved ones at this incredibly distressing time.”
He added, “Although we have made an arrest, it is crucial to gather a comprehensive understanding of this incident. We urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision or possesses relevant information to contact the police, especially those with CCTV or dashcam footage.”
