A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in a residential property located in Southwark.
James Flanagan, 53, of Stead Street, North Walworth, was formally charged on Wednesday, December 17. He made his initial court appearance at Croydon Magistrates‘ Court on Thursday, December 18, where he was remanded in custody. Flanagan is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, December 22.
Investigation Details
On Sunday, December 14, at 14:23, police were called to an address on Rodney Road, North Walworth, due to concerns regarding the welfare of a woman. Upon arrival, officers located a woman in her 50s who had been pronounced dead. The deceased has since been identified as 58-year-old Julie Wilson. Her family is receiving support from specialized officers during this distressing time.
A man in his 50s was detained at the scene on suspicion of murder and has since been charged as mentioned above.

Detective Inspector Mark Franklin from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime South said, „Our thoughts are with Julie’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. While a man has now been charged, our investigation continues, and we urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us to come forward.“
