A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Grove Street, Lewisham on Wednesday, 31 December.
The minor, whose identity remains confidential due to his age, was formally charged with murder on Monday, 5 January. He is set to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Youth Court the same day.
Incident Details
Authorities were alerted at approximately 12:35 PM on Wednesday, 31 December, following reports of a stabbing incident in Grove Street, Lewisham. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene in conjunction with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, where they treated a 23-year-old man for a stab wound to his chest.
Regrettably, despite the paramedics‘ intervention, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as John Temitope Onetufo from Deptford.
Ongoing Investigations
The family of the deceased continues to receive support from specialized officers.
In addition to the 17-year-old, a 23-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of murder on Friday, 2 January. He has since been released on bail while investigations remain ongoing.
Furthermore, an 18-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday, 4 January, on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. She is also out on bail as inquiries proceed.
