A man who exploited a family’s trust to gain private access to a young girl and threatened her with harm if she revealed the sexual abuse has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Kamran Khan, 44, of Streatham High Road in Lambeth, received his sentence on Wednesday, April 1, at the Inner London Crown Court. He was convicted on January 15 for ten sexual offenses against a child, including the rape of a girl under the age of 13 and the assault of the same girl through inappropriate touching.
The investigation, led by detectives from the Metropolitan Police, revealed the extent of Khan’s offenses against the victim. The case was built on meticulous phone analysis and forensic evidence that substantiated the allegations.
Detective Constable Franky Green, a member of the Met’s Child Abuse Investigation Team, stated, „I commend the courage of the victim and her family who came forward to bring light to Khan’s terrible offences. Khan preyed on a defenseless child and took advantage of formed connections which he used as a smokescreen for his abusive crimes.“
He continued, „The immeasurable bravery of the victim and their family is tremendously appreciated. Our Child Sexual Exploitation team works tirelessly to create a safe, supportive environment where victims feel able to speak freely. Their specialist approach ensures that children and families are heard, protected, and empowered throughout the investigative process.“
Khan was arrested on July 6, 2025, following a report from a family member who accused him of rape and serious sexual assault against a child. The investigation was initiated after a family member observed an inappropriate interaction between Khan and the child.
Despite Khan’s threats to kill the child if she disclosed the abuse, she bravely confided in a family member about the sexual abuse she endured in her home, in her bedroom, and on a park bench. In a related case, a woman was arrested for encouraging support to Daesh.
Officers worked diligently to gather evidence, seizing Khan’s phone at the time of his arrest. The victim disclosed that she had been coerced into watching videos on his phone, and officers discovered corroborative pornographic material in his search history.
Forensic samples collected from Khan, along with DNA evidence from the victim, confirmed that sexual contact had occurred.
The Metropolitan Police continues to enhance its efforts to combat child abuse in various settings, including online, institutional, familial, and community environments. Officers remain committed to bringing offenders to justice, having significantly increased their capabilities through investments in digital forensics, rapid analysis software, and advanced monitoring tools to track registered sex offenders. These initiatives have led to a threefold increase in solved cases last year, resulting in 134 additional suspects being charged.
In addition to his 15-year prison sentence, Khan has been placed on the registered sex offenders list and has been issued a restraining order along with a sexual harm prevention order.
