A man has been found guilty of murdering his wife in their residence in Lewisham.
After a trial at Woolwich Crown Court that concluded on Monday, December 15, Hai Van Nguyen (29.04.83), residing on Hatfield Close, SE14, was convicted of killing Hien Thi Vu on Sunday, April 13.
Law enforcement officials initiated an investigation when Nguyen voluntarily entered a police station and informed officers that he had stabbed his wife. He was promptly arrested and charged the following day.
Details of the Crime
Hien was discovered in her bedroom with seven stab wounds, one of which resulted in substantial blood loss leading to her demise. A bloodstained knife was located on her bedside drawer.
The court was informed that Nguyen suspected Hien of infidelity and frequently confronted her regarding his suspicions. In the hours preceding her death, he compelled her to use the TfL app to confirm her whereabouts.

Detective Inspector Stephanie Dexter, who oversaw the investigation, remarked, “This is a tragic case and our thoughts remain with the couple’s three children who are grieving for the sudden loss of their mother.
“Nguyen was a jealous man who executed a brutal attack on his wife within their home, a place where she should have felt safest.
“Our commitment to addressing violence against women and girls remains resolute, and we urge victims to contact police or other support organizations for assistance.
“We will respond with sensitivity, and we will collaborate with you to offer appropriate support, ensuring your safety while dealing firmly with the perpetrator.”
Nguyen is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, December 19.
