A teenager has been sentenced to three years in prison for threatening a chicken shop employee with a replica firearm after expressing dissatisfaction with his order. The incident occurred on Christmas Eve in a south London establishment.
Marwan Khadir, 18, brandished a realistic imitation gun during the confrontation, which lasted over two minutes. The altercation took place at a chicken shop located on Penge High Street, where Khadir became aggressive after receiving the incorrect garlic sauce with his meal.
Khadir, residing on Malcolm Close in Penge, had previously admitted to charges of carrying a fake firearm with the intent to instill fear, making threats to kill, and assault. His sentencing took place at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday.
Details of the Incident
Footage released by law enforcement captured the moment Khadir confronted the shop employee, demanding, „How many garlic sauces did you put in the bag?“ After returning home and realizing the wrong sauces were included, he was seen pacing in his flat while expressing his frustration over the phone.
„I’m going to kill you now, are you mad?“ Khadir shouted during the confrontation.
Upon returning to the shop, he yelled at the employee, „Bossman, come here. Why you give me four burger sauce? I asked for three garlic and three mayo.“ He attempted to breach the counter before being pushed back by the worker.
In a moment of escalation, Khadir drew the imitation firearm, cocked it, and made threats against the employee’s life.
Arrest and Investigation
Khadir was apprehended on January 2 by armed police, who also confiscated the replica gun and fake ammunition used during the incident. Detective Sergeant Amy Cross, who oversaw the investigation, commended the victim for his bravery in coming forward and identifying Khadir.
„All our thoughts continue to remain with the victim of this terrifying ordeal, something no one should ever have to go through, let alone at their place of work,“ Cross stated. „The strength he has shown since the attack has been remarkable.“
This case highlights the serious consequences of using imitation firearms in threatening situations, particularly in environments where individuals should feel safe.
