Tragic crash impact: Two teenagers dead, third in critical condition after taxi accident

Tragic crash impact: Two teenagers have been identified as victims of a fatal taxi accident that occurred when their vehicle collided with a tree during a festive outing.

Jake Neaves and Jenson Seal, both 19 years old, were reportedly on their way home from a Christmas celebration in London when the incident took place.

The accident, involving a white Tesla taxi hailed from Oxted train station, occurred in Hurst Green, Surrey, just before 10 PM on Saturday night.

A third individual, also in his late teens, is currently hospitalized and in critical condition.

Investigation and Arrest

Authorities responded to the crash site located at Holland Road near its junction with Popes Lane. According to Surrey Police, the taxi driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital.

A 30-year-old man from Oxted has since been detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving as well as causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

According to local residents, six friends had enjoyed a festive evening together before opting to take two separate taxis home.

Eyewitness Accounts

In the aftermath of the crash, passengers from another taxi intervened and were able to rescue two of the victims before flames engulfed the Tesla.

One witness stated, „They had done the sensible thing and gotten a cab home from Oxted station. Three went in the Tesla and the others went in another taxi, but at some point during the journey, we don’t know why, the Tesla hit a tree.“

Another friend described Jake as a talented footballer and Jenson as a humorous individual who brought joy to others, saying, „We’ll miss them so much.“ A former classmate visited the crash site to pay respects, remarking, „They were both lovely lads with hearts of gold. Just amazing people. They didn’t have a bad bone in their body and always put smiles on people’s faces.“

As investigations continue, local roads remain closed. The police are calling for witnesses to the incident to come forward, particularly those who may have CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist in the inquiry. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the police at 101 and reference PR/45250153201.
