Met detectives have initiated a murder investigation following the shooting of a 55-year-old man in Stonebridge, Brent.
Authorities received reports of the gunfire on Friday, 19 December at 21:35 hours on West End Close, Stonebridge. Officers arrived on the scene to administer emergency first aid to the injured man; however, despite the efforts of both the officers and the London Ambulance Service, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Details
The victim’s next of kin have been notified and are currently receiving support from specialized officers. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported in the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, leading the investigation from the Met’s Specialist Crime Team, stated, “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this incredibly difficult time.” He went on to explain that inquiries are progressing rapidly to ascertain the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
Community Reassurance
John emphasized that the incident is likely to raise concerns within the local community and beyond. He assured residents that police patrols have been increased in the area, noting, “Our investigation remains a priority.”
He urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident or possesses information, including dashcam footage, to reach out promptly to assist with the inquiries. Reports indicate that a large gathering of people was present nearby at the time of the shooting, and authorities are particularly interested in hearing from them.
